“This is bourbon the way it used to be. The way it was meant to be.” — Booker Noe
Last time (Nikka super), we talked about the sexyness of whiskey, and Japan, the new home of star distilleries. But what about the real, classic American stuff? Bourbon and Tennessee whiskey are world-famous, and Knob Creek is a traditional bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Suntory at the Jim Beam distillery.
The story behind this gold potion is very interesting. The infamous alcohol prohibition stopped bourbon production in theStates, and when it ended, manufacturers had to start all over again from scratch. Since they couldn’t afford to wait years and years for the whiskey to age, Americans developed a taste for softer whiskeys, rather than the long-aged, big-flavored straight bourbons of the past.
This is what motivated Booker Noe. He didn’t want just yet another “run of the mill” new bourbon. He wanted real bourbon back.
As a result, he created Knob Creek, and named it after the childhood home of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the U.S.
